Centre to set up 12,500 Ayush Health & Wellness centres across Country by 2023-24: Kishan Reddy

Hyderabad, Dec 18 : The Central Government is working to establish 12,500 Ayush Health & Wellness Centers across the country by 2023-24 to make this Ayurvedic medicine accessible to the people of the country, said Union Tourism Minister G. Kishan Reddy here on Sunday.
Ayurveda has had a unique identity in the Indian system of medicine since ancient times. It is no exaggeration that the Narendra Modi government after forming the Government has given a huge impetus to traditional Indian knowledge systems, Kishan said in a statement here. Globally there is keen interest in Ayurvedic medicine, he said Yoga is also a part of ancient Indian tradition has now become a global phenomenon and can proactively help in addressing many physical and mental ailments.
As a result of Narendra Modi’s efforts to propagate the benefits of Yoga to the world, since 2015, every year on June 21, the United Nations celebrates the International Day of Yoga. Yoga is now being celebrated and practiced worldwide in close to 200 countries. Not only have hundreds of countries that have recognized the value of yoga participated in this program, some countries have also made yoga a part of their school curriculum, he said..
In 2018, the Narendra Modi government, which is very concerned about the health of the people of the country, launched the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jana Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) program on a large scale, he said through this program, medical treatment worth Rs 5 lakh is provider to each eligible family per year free of cost through the Ayushman Bharat empanelled hospitals. So far, more than 4.20 crore people have availed free medical services through 28,831 hospitals through about 19 crore Ayushman Bharat cards.
The Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission has taken measures to continuously monitor the health of the people of the country from anywhere. So far more than 28.12 crore Ayushman Bharat Health Account IDs have been created through this programme, said Kishan.. E-Sanjeevani telemedicine OPD services were launched in 2019 to enable people to get free health advice from their homes. Till now more than 8 crore people of the country have availed free telemedicine services through this program, he said.
The Pradhan Mantri Bharatiya Jana Aushadhi Paryojana Kendras are being set up to make medicines and equipment needed for medical procedures and surgeries available to the people at the lowest prices and as part of this, 8,809 centers have been set up across the country so far, he said..
Through these centers in the financial year 2021-22 alone, people requiring medicines and medical equipment had a cumulative saving of Rs. 5,300 crores, he said along with these, the prices of medicines for chronic diseases have also been reduced significantly. The Mission Indradhanush scheme is providing necessary vaccines to protect everyone from various diseases starting from pregnant women to children, the Union Minister said that all these vaccines are being given to them at appropriate time to boost their immunity. This process has made great progress across the country. This process aims to reduce child mortality completely by 2030.
During the last two years, our country has undertaken the largest vaccination program in the world against COVID-19, he said as a part of this vaccination process, so far, more than 220 crore vaccine doses have been provided to the people of the country free of cost.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given a big boost to the pharma companies in the country in making COVID-19 vaccine and Rs.35 thousand crores was spent by the Narendra Modi government for providing free vaccines to eligible citizens, he said.
India, which abides by the ancient philosophy of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam has been providing vaccines to approximately 100 countries in the world as a part of Vaccine Maitri, he added.
