AICC general secretary in charge of communication, publicity and media Jairam Ramesh on Saturday claimed that due to the ongoing Bharat Jodo Yatra by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, the party has got a ‘fresh life’.Stating that the Yatra was never meant for any election purpose, he said at a press conference here that the Bharat Jodo Yatra and election in the country, either it be bypoll or Assembly poll, is completely separate.
The former Union Minister said the Congress hope that the Yatra will complete by the end of January or latest by mid of February 2023.
Ramesh said in Telangana Congress, new life and new unity is very important as without unity there cannot be life and without life there is no unity.‘’I am 100 per cent sure that the yatra will give a new direction to Telangana congress to fight the 2024 Lok Sabha election.’’The Senior Congress leader said Rahul has met a large number of groups in Telangana.
He met farmers, dalit groups, advasi groups students, intellectuals, public sector employees who are worried about privatisation, industrial labour, trade unions and hundreds and hundreds of ordinary citizens.Ramesh said Rahul has received hundreds of representations from different groups and now we will take further action on them.A ‘’countdown’’ was started for KCR in Telangana and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi and described both the governments headed by them as ‘’double engine’’.The AICC General Secretary said the Bharat Jodo Yatra in Telangana is successful and there was overwhelming response from the people for the yatra. It would act as a booster for the state Congress party. He alleged that in the Munugode byelection held on November 3, BJP ran ‘operation lotus’ and KCR did ‘operation cactus’All the regional parties– YSRCP, TDP, and TRS in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are ‘’match fixing’’ parties, he alleged they have good understanding with the BJP.
All these regional parties are scared of ED, Income Tax and CBI. Hence , if one has to fight, it is only Congress that can fight with BJP. No regional party can fight,” the AICC General Secretary said, adding that the AIMIM is also a “match fixing’’ partyRamesh found fault with TRS, BJP and AIMIM for not holding election for the post of the President in their respective parties like the Congress Party held recently.
