On 12thDecember, 2022, Monday under the “Ride to Safety Campaign” ICICI Lombard General Insurance Company Ltd in association with TRAX Road Safety NGO India Society has organized and distributedaround 80free helmets to the students from 3rd to 8th class and their parents at Allen High School Hall.
The occasion was graced by honorable Chief Guest “Father” Ravi. T. Bhaskar & Principal E. Sandhya Raniand Project Head & Project Officer from TRAX S. Society (Road Safety NGO India), the students and parents attended a workshop on Importance of wearing helmet, importance of wearing helmet by pillion rider also and road safety post which Helmets distribution programme commenced.
Chief GuestFather Ravi .T. Bhaskar blessed and graces the occasion with his valuable words on Helmets – “THE GIFT OF LIFE.”
With 1.35 million people dying in road traffic crashes every year, the situation of India’s road safety is the worst on record. Every day, 29 children die in Road crashes. Young children are often carried as 3rd and 4th passengers on two-wheelers which poses a high risk to all. Wearing a standard helmet increases the safety of the rider and pillion.
As per the UNECE ( United Nations Economic and Social Council for World Vehicle Regulation Forum) report, wearing an appropriate helmet improves the chances of survival in Motorized Two-Wheeler Riders by 42% and can reduce the risk of head injuries by 69%. The motorcycle helmet is designed to minimize the risks of all kinds of head injuries. To promote the safety of children ICICI Lombard Initiated a campaign named “Ride To Safety”a CSR Road Safety initiative of ICICI Lombard with an objective to sensitize people about the importance of wearing Helmets and promoting a safety culture amongst children.
TRAX S.Society – a pivotal Road Safety NGO has been associated with ICICI Lombard for this for the last seven years, (since the inception of the campaign). TRAX has been involved in Awareness and advocacy for Road Safety for last 14 years and have created many successful stories. TRAX have worked with different communities as well as different State Governments and made ‘Road Safety’ a demand for better lifestyle. We have reached more than 10 lacs people through our awareness program and media reach.
Through this initiative Previous year 5000 helmets were distributed to children and their parents in Hyderabad. The campaign is on this year too,under the initiative we will reach out to many more school children and their parents with the support of the school administration.
