Hyderabad Police foil YSRTP Prez’s indefinite fast, shifted to Apollo Hospitals

Hyderabad, Dec 11 : In a midnight high drama, police foiled the indefinite fast of YSR Telangana Party (YSRTP) Chief Y S Sharmila in the wee hours of Sunday and forcefully shifted her to Apollo Hospitals in Jubilee Hills here after her health was deteriorated. Sharmila, sister of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, was on indefinite fast at party office in Lotus Pond since Friday demanding the state government to accord permission to resume her state-wide ‘Praja Prasthanam Padyatra’.
After the YSRTP President’s health deteriorated as she had not even consumed water and doctors who examined her, suggested shifting her to the hospital. Police forced media personnel, party leaders and cadres, to move away before she was forcefully shifted out of her location at 1 a.m.
Meanwhile, a medical bulletin from Apollo Hospitals said ‘Mrs. Y.S. Sharmila Reddy was admitted around 1 am on December 11, 2022 with low blood pressure, weakness, and giddiness.
She had dehydration and orthostatic hypotension. She was also found to have severe oliguria, high anion gap metabolic acidosis and pre-renal azotemia. She is currently undergoing treatment, responding appropriately and is expected to be discharged later today or tomorrow morning. In view of the above she is advised 2-3 weeks of complete rest for complete recovery, the bulletin said.
