City Police Commissioner CV Anand on Wednesday appreciated constable Sai Kumar and home guard Ravindra Babu of Panjagutta Police station who fearlessly confronted a man who pointed a gun directly at them in a gripping stand-off. Today morning, around 3:30 am, the two cops who were patrolling in Shabarinath lane in Ameerpet noticed that a person named Venkata Nagendra Reddy engaged in an argument with transgenders and tried to disperse them. Nagendra Reddy aggressively pointed his licensed gun and tried to open fire on the two cops.
But the brave officers quickly managed to tackle the armed man and detained him in a move described by the city police chief as “nothing short of incredible”. The firearm has been seized and the man was arrested.
Despite being unarmed, the courageous cops acted on the spur of the moment with no regard for their own safety and apprehended the offender. Their astonishing bravery is commendable. Anand presented appreciation certificates and a cash reward of Rs 2500 each and congratulated them. These rewards will be tailored to their service records, a police statement said.
