Kanti Velugu: 9. 93L reading glasses disbursed to people

Hyderabad: The state government’s massive program ‘Kanti Velugu is providing new hopes to people to regain their sight. People across the state are taking advantage of the Kanti Velugu camps formally launched by the state Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao to redress problems of those suffering from eye issues.
One could see celebrations among the people after getting treated their eye-sight issues as testing and costs are borne by the government without spending even a single rupee from their pocket.
According to an official press not issued by the state health department, so far, 53 lakh 85 thousand 071 people have been examined by 1500 medical teams across the state. And, 9 lakh 93 thousand 461 people were given reading glasses. 6 lakh 93 thousand 644 people have ordered for prescription glasses. 25 working days spent on KV’s which is a new record in the history of the state. The state government has started a massive drive that was never heard of the historyFor example, the eople’s response at Peddapally District Kanti Velugu Camp was a big hit.
Kalashikam Anita, who came to the camp at Srivani Degree and PG College in Sultanabad mandal center of Pedpadalli district, expressed her jubilation.
This what she said: “I am 40 years old and eyesight is not clear. But when I visited KV camp, underwent tests, where the doctor tested my eyes for distance and near vision and said that my near vision has decreased. And I got it rectified.” So said fifty-six year-old Shohan Begum. She was a bit scared to get eyes tested and felt needs lot of money needs to be spent. But, thanks to the government, all my tests are conducted free of cost.
Similar stories are there from Mulutu and elsewhere and the state government under the program has disbursed reading glasses close to 9.4 lakh people and also conducted some minor operations wherever required.
