Bommai to visit Delhi amidst burgeoning border row

Date:

Mysuru, Nov 28: Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Monday said he will visit New Delhi for several reasons, including holding discussion with senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi with regard to Maharashtra border dispute coming up on November 30 before the Supreme Court.
“On November 30, there is a hearing in the Supreme Court on the border issue. In that backdrop a discussion will be held with our advocate Mukul Rohatgi to adopt a strategy. He already has the information and a decision has already been taken on how to present our case. Further discussions will be held tomorrow in Delhi,” he told reporters here.
At the meeting of Maharashtra and Karnataka Governors over border dispute, Bommai said, “Governors have met for different purposes. This is a case pending before the Supreme Court. A hearing is just coming up.”
The CM on Sunday chaired a meeting with senior advocates and officials in the wake of the case coming up before the Supreme Court for hearing on November 30.
Bommai is expected to fly to Delhi this evening. He said that he would meet Piyush Goyal and try to meet National BJP President JP Nadda during his visit.
“I am visiting Delhi to also meet Piyush Goyal and the Water Resources Minister with regards to development of the state. I also expect to meet Nadda. I am yet to get his appointment. I am hopeful of getting it,” he said.
The intended meeting with Nadda gains significance, as he had recently indicated that the much-awaited expansion or reshuffle of his Cabinet is likely after the Gujarat Assembly elections. There are six vacant ministerial berths in Bommai’s cabinet.
