Bengaluru, Sept 14: The debate on Bengaluru city inundation was generally serious, but the state assembly on Tuesday was lit up by dry humor when Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly Siddaramaiah made his submissions on his boat ride to flood-hit Yemlur last week.
“I had been to Mahadevapura constituency where several areas were inundated. I had to use a boat to visit Epsilon located in Yemalur,” he said. Interjecting Siddaramaiah, BJP MLA Aravind Limbavali said, “There is no need to use a boat because there was an alternative route. Why you were taken in the boat, I don’t understand, but there are many people who misguide you.”
Coming to the rescue of Siddaramaiah while most members were split due to Limbavali’s interjection, Congress MLA Ramalinga Reddy said Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai too took a boat to reach Epsilon. To which, Limbavali denied Bommai visiting Epsilon but retorted that the CM visited Divyashree enclavement.
Adding spice to the lighter moments, Bommai laughingly expressed his amusement over Siddaramaiah using a boat on the water that was just 1.5 ft deep. In a riposte, Congress MLAs challenged Bommai’s claims and Siddaramaiah said that a boat cannot move on 1.5 ft deep water.
