Karnataka govt decides to hand over Praveen murder case to NIA

Date:

Bengaluru, July 29 (UNI) Karnataka government on Friday decided to hand over the probe of BJP youth leader Praveen Nettaru’s murder to NIA.

“Since Praveen’s murder is an organized crime and has inter-state connections. Therefore, it has been decided to hand over the case to the NIA. The home department will issue a communique,” Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai told reporters here.

Bommai also said after collecting all the information, a letter will be written to Kerala authorities in this regard. Nettaru was murdered by bike-borne assailants on Tuesday night. So far, the police have arrested two persons suspected to have links with PFI and SDPI. Hitting out at Siddara- maiah for criticizing his government for “deteriorating” law and order in the state, Bommai said the present regime has taken prompt action against those involved in the recent killings.

“When Siddaramaiah was there (as CM), 32 murders had taken place. What was he doing? We have taken prompt action and arrested the assailants in Praveen’s and earlier cases. We have not been found lacking,” he said.“If someone sees everything through the lens of politics, it appears to be the same. There is no importance attached to Siddaramaiah’s statement. We know how to handle the situation,” he added.

Bommai also blamed Congress, especially Siddaramaiah for the increase in criminal activities of SDPI and PFI in Karnataka. “It was Siddaramaiah who had withdrawn more than 200 cases against PFI and SDPI workers when he was the chief minister,” he said.

“The SDPI and PFI activists had attacked their own Congress MLA Tanveer Sait. Despite this, Siddaramaiah gave relief to them, and now these people are going about freely and committing grave crimes,” he said.
