Date:

Bengaluru: Jaya Mruthyunjaya seer of Panchamasali community on Friday said he has lost confidence in Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, but believes in Narendra Modi and Amit Shah granting reservation under the 2A category. The seer said If the demand is not met, he will tour all 224Assembly constituencies and create awareness among people about legislators who worked against the community in this agitation.
“It is not about any party, it is about the individual, will expose all legislators who tried to influence the government from giving us the reservation,” the seer said. The seer has been demanding inclusion of Panchamasali community in 2A category of the reservation matrix.“We believe that Modi and Shah will fulfil our demand before the model code of conduct comes in place. If our demands are not met I will not hesitate to tour all 224 constituencies and create awareness among people about legislators who worked against us in this agitation,” he said.
The seer said he has lost confidence in CM Bommai and would only talk with the centre, not anymore with the state government.Panchamasali is a subsect of the Lingayat community, which has been a strong vote base of the BJP. The Panchamasalis had rejected the government’s decision of the 2D category and stuck to their demand of the 2A category.Earlier, Panchamasalis were classified under the 3B category, where they get 5 per cent reservation and they were demanding to be moved to 2A of the Other Backward Classes (OBC) category which guarantees a 15 per cent reservation. Vijayapura City MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal who is spearheading the fight has targeted Bommai, former CM BS Yediyurappa and Industries Minister Murugesh Nirani.
