Making a person God leads to dictatorship: Kharge

Date:

Bengaluru :Targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge on Sunday said that “making one person a God in democracy leads to dictatorship.”
“This needs to go away,” he said addressing the Aikyata Samavesh, a large convention of SC/ST communities organised by Karnataka Congress in the runup to the Assembly polls.
Targeting the state government, Kharge said Bommai ruined Karnataka in the name of caste and religion, and alleged that BJP divided the people in the state.
Questioning the government on jobs, Kharge said PM Modi is not filling as many as 30 lakh vacant government posts, because if it did, BJP’s game will be finished. Therefore they are hiring people on contract and daily wages basis, he said.
Kharge asked Dalits to rise against the Modi government in unison to save the Indian Constitution and democracy, so that they enjoy the benefits of reservations and jobs. “There are 15 lakh jobs reserved for SC and STs,” he said. He also questioned PM Modi on his promise of 2 crore jobs per year and farmers’ income being doubled.
