NTPC Ramagundam signs MoU with NABARD for Integrated Farming System

Peddapalli (TSIT): “NTPC is always committed to take the best possible measures to enhance the productivity of the farmers. The joint effort by NTPC and National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) will help farmers to reduce the cost of cultivation with the intervention of technology through pandal method,” said Executive Director of NTPC (Ramagundam and Telangana) Sunil Kumar. Signing an Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with NABARD here on Saturday, ED Sunil Kumar said that the MoU would facilitate conducting Integrated Farming System (IFS) using Technology aimed at providing a solution for water conservation, manure management, food security, regular farmers income and crop productivity in a cluster of six villages of Peddapalli district – Kanalla, Ranakpur, Bamla Nayak Tanda, Brahmanpally, Antergaon and GD Nagar.
“The MoU for Integrated Farming System in the six cluster villages of Peddapalli district will amount to Rs 54.29 lacs wherein 49% of the expenses will be borne by NABARD and 51% by NTPC Ramagundam HR- CSR. The Integrated Farming System (IFS) will be benefiting more than 20 small and marginal farmers from the SC-ST community, with an endeavor to convert more than 100 acres of barren land into fertile land,” Sunil Kumar added.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief General Manager, NABARD, Telangana Regional office Suseela Chintala said that the MoU had been initiated with the objective of providing sustainable and yearlong continuous production of fresh creeper vegetables with effective and efficient market linkage with the local retail markets. “The initiative will also help the farmer groups to minimise their investment cost through linkage with banks for loans,” she added.
The MoU was signed between HoHR, NTPC Ramagundam Bijoy Kumar Sikdar, and Chief General Manager, NABARD, Telangana Regional office Suseela Chintala. Society for Health Agriculture and Rural People (SHARP) will act as the implementing agency for the execution of the Integrated Farming System.
Deputy General Manager, Telangana Regional office VS Sriram, AGM, Karimnagar Cluster office P Ananth, AGM, Karimnagar Cluster office P Manohar Reddy, Asst. Manager Telangana Regional office Gowri Shankar were present along with the officials from HR-CSR department.
