Hubballi, Jan 10: Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Tuesday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s participation in a week-long National Youth Festival (NYF) here from January 12 will give an opportunity and inspiration for the youth of this region.
Talking to reporters here, he said the young delegates from 28 states and 8 union territories will be participating in this youth festival to showcase their talent.
There will be a variety of cultural and sports activities during all seven days, he said. It is for the first time the national youth festival is being held in the North Karnataka region and it will help the youth to come up in all the fields, CM said. Bommai said Modi has never considered the population as a burden, but as an asset. Nearly 46 percent of the country’s population is youth and several programmes have been chalked out to use them for nation building, he said. Though there will be no roadshow by PM Modi, people will be allowed to stand on both sides of the road from the airport up to the venue. The PM will acknowledge the people’s response.
On the Santro Ravi controversy, Bommai said instructions have been given to the police to confiscate his assets and ordered a probe into his illegal activities. “The probe will bring out the truth,” he said.Asked about the deadline set by the seer regarding reservation for Panchamasali community, Bommai said already a decision has been taken to bring them in 2A category. The increase in the reservation will be known in the coming days after the final orders of the Permanent Backward Classes Commission, he said. The commission has been asked to submit its final findings as early as possible and clarity will come thereafter.
