Siddipet,Dec 23: State Governor and Sri Konda Laxman Udyana University Chancellor Tamilisai Soundararajan called upon the students of Udyana University to carry out research aimed at the production of Vangadalu which will improve the health of the people. On Friday,she attended the second convocation ceremony of Sri Konda Laxman Udyana University in Mulugu, Siddipet district as the chief guest and awarded degrees to undergraduate and graduate students and doctorate degrees to those who completed Ph.D.Later, addressing the students, the governor said that horticulture is like a pillar of agriculture, and horticulture students should conduct extensive research to grow such healthy crops as the previous generation of people lived healthy without any diseases.People who used to eat different types of rice grains in different occasions, but now we are not able to get the proteins required by the body by eating dishes made of polished rice.Corona virus has made the world know the nutritional value of food.Horticulture students should continuously conduct research to create plants that provide healthy food to mankind.She said that the benefits of vegetables, fruits and flowers should be brought to the people. On this occasion, the governor advised the students to stop negative thoughts and think positively and take advantage of the facilities provided in the university to acquire skills that will be useful for the welfare of the society.On this occasion, University Vice Chancellor Neeraja Prabhakar explained the achievements of this university, established after the formation of Telangana state in the period of 8 years, the details of the courses offered to the students and the research conducted.Indian Council of Agricultural Research Deputy Director General (Horticulture) Dr. Anand Kumar Singh said that half of the country’s population is dependent on agriculture and agriculture allied sectors and said that only when horticulture crops are added to the agriculture sector, the farmers will prosper. He said that the country is the second largest producer of horticultural crops in the world and the government is giving priority to the development of integrated horticulture.In this second centenary, governor awarded 482 undergraduate, 76 postgraduate, 17 PhD degrees, three University Gold Medals for three batches in Undergraduate, two University Gold Medals for two batches in PG and six more sponsor gold medals in PG were awarded to the students in total eleven gold medals.In this event University Registrar Bhagavan.
