Chennai, July 24 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Health Minister Ma. Subramanian inaugurated the third edition of international and national ‘Aval-2022’ (She-2022) organized by the Kancheepuram Obstetric and Gynaeocologi- cal Society (KOGS) here last evening. The event was inaugurated in the presence of KOGS Presi- dent Dr. A.R.Chakravarthy and Secretary Dr. Umaiyal Murugesan at a star hotel in the city.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said the government will not hesitate to take action against erring doctors. Referring to the recent incident of forcing a 16-year-old girl to donate her oocytes to some private hospitals and the action taken by the state government against the offenders, Subramanian said soon after the incident came to light, the government ordered the closure of the hospitals within two weeks. Stating that the medical profession was a noble profession, the Minister said some people are indulging in some wrongdoings.
Dr. Sanathakumari said “we have been consistently stressing that all doctors should follow the medicine-related laws and the guidelines issued by the government. “But some doctors are indulging in wrongdoings and they are not being encouraged by the hospital management”, she added this. He said the management of these hospitals has approached the court and obtained a stay stating that notice has to be issued to them at least six weeks in advance and the government has filed its counter to it. “Whoever indulges in any wrong acts, the government will not remain a mute witness to it necessary action will be taken action this”, Subramanian said, adding, that why he was asserting this fact in this event was that a majority of the participants are gynecological experts, who should take this message to others and cooperate with the government. The Minister also said that at the same time, the government was also ready to address the genuine needs of the medical professionals and wished the conference all success.
