Mamata, Stalin, Rajini attend West Bengal Guv’s function

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, her Tamil Nadu counterpart M.K.Stalin, Tamil Superstar Rajinikanth are among the dignatories who participated in the 80th birthday (Sadabhishekam) of West Bengal Governor L.Ganeshan’s elder brother in the city. Stalin was accompanied by DMK MP T.R.Baalu. While entering the marriage hall, Mamata was greeted with beating of Chenda Melam, a cylindrical percussioninstrument famous for its loud and rigid sound. Enthused by the response, Mamata Banerjee played the Chenda Melam for a few minutes before entering the marriage hall, much to the delight of the Orchestra troupe. Ganesan, who is the Governor of Manipur, has been given additional charge of West Bengal, after Governor Jagdip Dhankar became the Vice President of India.
Talking to reporters, Ganesan, who shared a good bonhomie with Mamata, said his role as West Bengal gives him full satisfaction.
Mamata, who is a on a two-day visit to Chennai, called on Stalin last evening and described it as a courtesy call. Both Mamata and Stalin said no politics or the ensuing Lok Sabha elections (due in 2024) was discussed in the meeting.With the ruling DMK being at loggerheads with Tamil Nadu Governor R.N.Ravi on several issues, has appealed to all MPs of ‘like-minded’ political parties to sign a memorandum to be given to President Draupady Murmu demanding his withdrawal.
