On Jaya’s death anniv, EPS camp vows to defeat betrayers, OPS calls for ‘reunity’

Chennai, Dec 5 : Leaders of the rival camps in the Opposition AIADMK took a pledge at former Chief Minister J.Jayalalithaa’s mausoleum, with
Edappadi K.Palaniswami vowing to defeat the betrayers, while his ‘arch rival’ O.Panneerselvam broaching the topic of ‘Unity’ for the party’s growth.
After paying tributes to Jayalalithaa at her memorial on the Marina beach front to mark her sixth death anniversary, Palaniswami, who is also the Interim General Secretary of AIADMK and the Leader of Opposition in the State Assembly, along with his supporters took a vow to prepare themselves for any sacrifice to re-establish the golden rule of “Amma” (as Jaya was affectionately called) in the State.
Reiterating his stand against expelled AIADMK leaders Panneerselvam, ousted leader and Jayalalithaa’s close aide VK Sasikala and her nephew and AMMK Founder TTV Dhinakaran, EPS, without mentioning their names, and his supporters took a pledge to defeat the betrayers of the party.
Clad in black shirts, EPS–who commands a majority of support from the party cadres, leaders, district secretaries and functionaries–along with hissupporters–mostly former Ministers, MPs and MLAs, vowed to revitalise the party’s glory to safeguard the interest of the people. He also had a dig at the ruling DMK, which had returned to power after a gap of ten years with a thumping victory in the May 2021 Assembly polls, for allegedly stalling several welfare schemes launched by the previous AIADMK regime.
EPS also spoke about a mega alliance under the AIADMK for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls and exhorted the party cadres to take a pledge to win all the 40 seats in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, besides bringing back the AIADMK to power in the State as a tribute to Party Founder MGR and Jayalalithaa.After paying tributes to Jayalalithaa, EPS left for New Delhi to participate in a meeting on G20 Presidency.

Modi. Meanwhile, Panneerselvam, also a former Chief Minister, spoke about ‘reunity’ in the AIADMK for party’s growth. After separately paying floral tributes to Jayalalithaa at her memorial along with his supporters, Pannerselvam, also clad in black shirt, said “Only if we reunite can we grow the party together.”
