Puducherry reports 162 newCovid cases

Puducherry, July 24 (UNI) As many as 162 more people tested positive for Covid 19 in the last 24 hours ending at 10 Am on Sunday taking the tally of infection in the union territory of Puducherry to 1,70,091. No Co- vid related deaths were reported on Sunday and the death toll, therefore, remained at 1,965. According to a health department release, of the 1,493 swab tests taken on Saturday, 162 tested positive for the virus.121 new cases were reported in the Puducherry region, 38 in Karaikal, two in Yanam, and one in Mahe re- gions.5 9 persons were treated and discharged in the last 24 hours. So far, 1,70,091 persons are infected by the virus in the UT of which 1,66,832 have been treated and discharged and 1,965 have died leaving 1,294 active cases here at present. Of the 1,294 active cases, 1,269 are under home isolation.
