CBI Court Sentences Kothapalli Geetha to 5 Years in Jail

Hyderabad: A CBI court has sentenced BJP leader and former Araku MP Kothapalli Geetha to five years in prison and slapped with a fine of Rs 1 lakh on her in connection with the Punjab National Bank fraud case. The court also sentenced her husband Rama Koteshwar Rao and the bank officials BK Jayaprakash and KK Aravindakshan to 5 years jail and imposed fine of Rs 1 lakh in connection with the case. It also slapped penalty of Rs 2 lakhs to Vishweshwara Infrastructure Private Limited company.

On 17th February, 2021 CBI filed charge-sheet against Kothapalli Geetha for causing alleged loss of approximately Rs 42.79 crores to Punjab National Bank. The CBI officials shifted Kothapally Geetha and her husband Rama Koteshwar Rao to Chanchalguda jail along with other two bank officials.
