An SC and ST Atrocity Vigilance and Monitoring Committee meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Collector at Pragathi Bhawan in the Collectorate on Saturday. Nizamabad Police Commissioner KR Nagaraju attended this meeting. On this occasion, the Collector reviewed the progress of atrocity cases division-wise. If the victims are to be given speedy justice, an armed investigation should be conducted, complete evidence should be collected and a charge sheet should be filed. The charge sheet should be filed within sixty days of the registration of an atrocity case, and initiatives should be taken to complete the investigation process without exceeding this deadline under any circumstances. He said that otherwise, the cases would remain pending for days and the victims would feel dejected. He said that it is the responsibility of the authorities to work hard to do justice to whoever is on their side. In atrocity cases, those who are actually guilty of crimes should not escape under any circumstances and they should be punished according to the law. The Collector suggested that reports should be brought from the revenue authorities regarding the cases related to land issues and land disputes, and to this extent, the revenue authorities should also complete the investigation promptly and send the reports.
