Entertaining folk art performances

The South India times Nizamabad: In celebration of India’s Independence Diamond Festival, a folk artists performance was organized on Sunday at New Ambedkar Bhavan in Nizamabad District Center under the auspices of the District Information and Civil Relations Department. Zilla Parishad Chairman Vithal Rao, Collector C. Narayana Reddy, City Mayor Neetu Kiran, and others were present and started the program by lighting the Jyoti. Before that artists traditionally welcomed the chief guests with art forms. Artists entertained with Chindu, Yaksha ganam, Natika and patriotic songs. Reflecting the culture and traditions of Telangana, the artists showcased their acting prowess, highlighting the sacrifices of the freedom fighters. Their artistry was appreciated by all the chief guests who watched it throughout.

The Chindhu Folk Yaksha Gana performed by the state-level award-winning Babanna Troupe brought life to dying art culture. “Punya Bhumi Na Desam” sung by Sita, a member of the police Kalajata team, made the Roma sing. The songs and dances performed by the members of the Telangana cultural leadership team along with the Godavari group made the moments of the freedom struggle move before the eyes. The dumb show performed by Ashta Gangadhar, District Coordinator of Cultural Arts, to promote the concept that all religions are equal, made everyone think. Mahevish Tabassum and Rokhia Tabassum, students of class 10 of National High School (Urdu) in the district center, sang the song “Saare Jahan Se Accha” rhythmically and received applause.

inally, Ashta Gangadhar Pittala Dora’s drama gave a hearty laugh. The folk performances that lasted for about two and a half hours showcased the splendor of Indian art. On this occasion, ZP Chairman and City Mayor Neetu Kiran said that there is a need to preserve the disappearing arts like Chindhu and Yakshaganam. Recognizing this, the Telangana government is giving due respect to artists and giving priority to them in all fields. He reminded us that artists were given an opportunity by organizing a folk art performance program during independent India’s Vajrotava celebrations. He praised the role played by artists in the Telangana movement as indescribable and working tirelessly to sensitize the society
