Hyderabad, July 25 (UNI): Governor Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan has exuded confidence that the union government will extend its financial assistance to Telangana soon following the heavy floods that caused damage to the State.
Speaking to the media in New Delhi on Monday after attending the swearing-in ceremony of President Draupadi Murmu, the Governor said she had submitted a report to the Union Home Minister on the extent of damage caused by the floods and the Central teams also assessed the situation by visiting the flood-affected areas in the State.
The Union government has much concerned about the people of Telangana. Definitely, people will be get benefited. The Centre has clearly given in words how it can be helped by the State. Even Union Minister Kishan Reddy has also forwarded a message saying that in what way the Centre is going to be extended its aid to the State,” Tamilisai said.
“I don’t want to make politics with the issue of floods. But, the Centre will definitely help the State,” she said. Stating that she could not attend the nomination program of Draupadi Murmu and hence, she came to the oath-taking ceremony, the Governor said it was a matter of pride for the entire nation to have a tribal woman as the head of the country.
The newly elected Droupadi Murmu has come from a very downtrodden and simple background and elevated into the great position of Indian President, she added.
