Independence Day celebrated with PATRIOTIC FERVOUR

Hyderabad August 16: The 76th Independence Day was celebrated across Telangana in a grand manner on Monday. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao hoisted the national flag on a 62-feet tall pole from a makeshift rostrum, close to the Tarmati mosque (Golconda) with a sprawling rocky fort forming the background. As the Chief Minister was hoisting the national tri-color, the contingents from the special police presented the salute to the playing of ‘Jana Gana Mana’. On arrival, the Chief Minister was presented with a guard of honor at the entrance of the fort. However, in view of limited space amidst the ruins of the fort, the traditional parade and display of tableaux were not done this year.

Earlier before proceeding to Golconda Fort, the Chief Minister drove to the Secunderabad Parade Grounds and paid floral tributes at the memorial to jawans who made supreme sacrifices for the country in the presence of top Army and civil officials. In his customary I-Day speech, Mr. Rao said that the entire country was admiring as the state is moving ahead in all sectors.

“This was possible only with the blessings of people, efforts of people’s representatives and government staff,” he said. Stating that the state government is a role model for the country in supplying quality power to all the sectors 24X7, Rao said the state has achieved a record growth of 11.6 percent in the agriculture sector. He said that Telangana was the only state in the country to provide safe drinking water facilities to all its villages. Rao said that the state has achieved 12.01 percent growth in the manufacturing sector, and 26.14 percent growth in IT Sector, which is the highest in the country. Stating that the state is number one in the country as its income has increased to Rs 1.84 lakh crore in 2021 from Rs 62,000 crore in 2014 during the last 8 years, the Chief Minister said the State-Owned Tax Revenue (SOTR) has grown 11.5 percent during the last seven years, according to CAG report. Keeping in view of the historic 75th Independence Day, the state government has distributed 1.2 crore national flags made by weavers of Telangana free of cost to all the houses to hoist on their houses.
