The south India times Hyderabad: Kamineni Hospitals, LB Nagar here has felicitated Organ Donors families on the occasion of National Organ Donation Day on Saturday. Dr. Swarnalatha, CEO of Jeevandan organization, Telangana, present on the occasion, thanked all the organ donors’ families as without their contribution there is no transplant process.

We are able to procure 5-10 percent of the required organs. Police are really helpful in the process of Organ donation, she said. The CEO said all Organ transplants are covered under the Aarogyasri health scheme and added that 37 hospitals have been registered for this in Telangana. The organ donation rate in India is 8 percent and in Telangana, it is 4.5 percent.

About 2 lakh people are awaiting transplants in India. Lung was doing major damage due to Covid. More than 200 lung transplants had been done. she added. Speaking at the program, Mahesh Bhagwat, Commissioner of Police, Rachakonda said,?Across regions or communities, hospitals are giving life to many. We are privileged to be part of the Organ donation process. There is more demand and less supply, he said. The Police Commissioner said recently, we busted an international organ retrieving racket.

Mr. Bhagwat said the felicitation of family members for donating organs is a noble gesture. Hyderabad is becoming an Organ transplantation hub, he added. Dr. Gayatri Kamineni, COO Kamineni Hospitals, said,?After extensive study, research, and experimentation, organ transplant operations have evolved into a wonderful life-sav- ing treatment offered by the modern medical field.
