Kishan Reddy inspects progress of Satellite Terminal works at Charlapalli Railway station

The South India Times Hyderabad: Union Minister of Culture and Tourism G Kishan Reddy on Saturday inspected the progress of Satellite Terminal works at Charlapalli Railway station near here. He was accompanied by South Central Railway (SCR) General Manager (Incharge) Arun Kumar Jain, Neeraj Agarwal, CAO, Construction,

J.K Jain, Principal Chief Mechanical Engineer, A.K Gupta, Divisional Railway Manager, Secunderabad Division, and other senior Railway officials throughout the inspection. The Minister inspected the development works of the Satellite terminal and reviewed the progress of coach maintenance facilities and other infrastructural works.

He said that Charlapalli Railway station will become the fourth major passenger terminal in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad. The new terminal is being developed with modern facilities on par with airports. Reddy also said that the development works will be completed by December 2023.

He appreciated the Railways for undertaking the project in a phased manner and stated that the Satellite terminal will provide enhanced transport facility to Rail passengers in the twin cities. It is also convenient for the mobility of both public and private transport as it is connected directly with the Outer Ring Road (ORR). The Minister also appreciated the Railways for undertaking the project with an environment-friendly approach such as translocation of trees, afforestation, and rainwater harvesting.

He advised the officials to speed up the work so as to ensure the timely completion of the project. Reddy also stated that the redevelopment of Secunderabad Railway station is being undertaken with an expenditure of over Rs 600 crore. Arun Kumar Jain briefed the Minister about the project details. As part of the development, several works are in progress including widening of the existing island platform, a New Platform along with a new line for MMTS trains, 2 Cover Over Platforms (COP) on new Platforms, and 1 COP on the existing Platform, Extension of Foot over Bridge for new High-level platforms, Water pedestals on both the new platforms and island platform, Lighting arrangements on new and island platforms, the General Manager informed.
During the course of the inspection, Kishan Reddy interacted with the workers and enquired about the safety precautions observed by them.
