Marri demands CM to talk about crop losses

Date:

Hyderabad, July 28 (UNI): Former minister and senior Congress leader Marri Shashidhar Reddy today demanded that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao talk about the crop losses in- curred by the farmers during the recent floods instead of only talking about his pet scheme Rythu Bandhu. Shashidhar Reddy told the Chief Minister that the crops spread across thousands of acres of land were damaged due to the floods. He alleged that the CM had also ignored the floods that hit the State capital Hyderabad last year. He alleged that the Central team, which visited the State recently to as- sess the flood losses, behaved negligently and did not observe the report submitted by the State government. He said the Chief Minister failed to constitute a State-level disaster management authority even after eight years of the formation of the State.

Marri demanded that the State and Central governments im- mediately release a white paper on the number of funds released for the relief of the flood-affected farmers. Stating that the recent floods have damaged crops from 25,000 acres of land, he said the State government had assessed the crop losses at 1339 crore. He alleged that the Central team, which visited the State recently to assess the flood losses, behaved negligently and did not observe the report submitted by the State government.
