The South India times Hyderabad: Former captain of the Indian women’s cricket team Mithali Raj met BJP National President J P Nadda at a city hotel in Shamshabad here on Saturday. Nadda later tweeted ”Had a great interaction with former Cricketer Mithali Raj. It was humbling to note her appreciation for the fillip that the sportspersons are getting under the leadership of Hon. PM @naren- dramodi. She hailed the instrumental personal support & guidance pro- vided by Modi Ji.”
Mithali Raj met the BJP President following a request from the party leadership. Nadda arrived at RGIA from Delhi to take part in a public meeting organized at Hanamkonda Arts College in Telangana in the evening to mark the end of the third phase of ‘Praja Sangrama Yatra’ undertaken by the party State president Bandi Sanjay Kumar.
Meanwhile, Observers opine that the meeting between Nadda and Mithali Raj, who retired from first-class cricket two months ago, is a part of the Telangana unit of the BJP’s bid to woo celebrities into its fold before the next Assembly election scheduled to be held in December 2023. Nadda is set to meet Telugu film actor Nithin at the same hotel tonight. It may be recalled that Union Home Minister Amit Shah during his recent visit to the city had met popular Telugu movie actor Junior NTR.
