Hyderabad: Coromandel International Limited Managing Director Sameer Goel on Monday said, in recent years, several types of research have shown that nano fertilisers increase the use efficiency of plant nutrients, minimise the potential adverse effects of excessive chemical fertiliser use and reduce the fertiliser application frequency.
“With agricultural land gradually decreasing on account of erosion, environ- mental contamination, and fertilization, it becomes all the more important to increase agricultural produc- tion in order to meet the nutritional needs of our growing populace,” Sameer said while speaking at a day-long conclave held on Effecti ve use of Nano-fertilisers in Agriculture’ being organized by Coromandel International Limited, India’s leading Agri solutions provider in the business of Fertilisers, Crop Protection, in association with ICAR- IIRR (Indian Institute of Rice Research) here.
He said Nano fertilisers are imperative in farming to increase harvest without unwarranted use of chemical fertilisers. Our conclave today is more of an educational ses- sion on the effective use of nano fertilisers in farming, Goel added. The inaugural session of the conclave was addre ssed by Dr. Binaya Kumar Parida, Chief Agronomist, Coromandel International Limited.
Renowned experts par- ticipated in the event also talked on various issues rela ting to nanotechnology & agriculture; climate smart nano-fertilisers; aligning farming with the eco system and climate change; nano scale materials; synthesis and characterisation of nano particles specific to Nano DAP; and nano nutrient uptake mechanism and its impact on field crops.
