Hyderabad: People irrespective of gender and age thronged temples here to conduct special poojas on the occasion of Janmashtami, the birthday of Lord Sri Krishna on Friday. Several temples and religious organizations in Telangana conducted special bhajans and put up plays depicting important episodes from the life of Lord Krishna with tiny tots dressed up like the Lord enacting the role of Balakrishna. The tastefully decorated and illuminated International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) temples in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad also arranged special poojas and bhajan programs which drew unending crowds.
Meanwhile, Telangana Governor Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan wished the people of the state on the auspicious occasion of Janmashtami. Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, Soundararajan said ”Wishing you all a very happy #KrishnaJanmashtami.” In another tweet, she said ”Happy #Janmashtami! May Lord #Krishna bless everyone with a life full of joy & prosperity.’
