Police arrested suspended MLA Raja Singh under PD Act

Hyderabad: Two days after getting bail from Nampally court in Hyderabad after he was taken into custody for his alleged remarks on Prophet Muhammad, the Hyderabad City Police have arrested again the suspended Telangana BJP’s Goshamahal MLA T.Raja Singh Lodh alias Raju Singh alias Raja Singh, here on Thursday under the Preventive Detention (PD) Act.

The 45-year-old Singh was held by Mangalhat police station under Act No.1 of 1986 PD Act as per the orders of the Hyderabad Commissioner of Police (CP) CV Anand. The Raja Singh Lodh has been habitually delivering provocative and inflammatory speeches and driving a wedge between communities leading to public disorder.

The proposed Raja has posted online an offensive video on August 22 on ‘Shree Ram Channel Telangana’, with the title ‘Faruqui K Aaka Ithihaas Suniye’ on YouTube against Prophet Mohammed, who is venerated by the Muslim community, with an intention to provoke all sections of people and thereby caused a breach of peace and public tranquility the CP said in a release here.

The proposed Raja commented very blasphemously against Prophet Mohammed and his lifestyle, the release said and adding that he (Singh) reiterated the same at his residence on August 23 in front of electronic media when he was taken into custody, that the police are making efforts to remove his speech from the YouTube but that will not deter him from posting further speeches and video.

When the video went viral, protests erupted in different parts of Hyderabad city and other parts of the Telangana state and drove a wedge between communities, and disturbed the peaceful nature of Hydera bad the state. Sensing danger to the life and properties in the hands of the protestors, people got panicky and closed their shops and establishments, the release said. The entire population of the city and the state went into a grip of fear and shock by his activity.
