Pungent comment against Prez Murmu, BJP men burn Sonia’s effigies all over

Date:

Hyderabad, July 28 (UNI): Telangana BJP on Thursday strongly pro- tested against the unsavory comments made by Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury against President Droupadi Murmu, de- scribing her as “Rashtra Patni.”

Following a call given by BJP State president Bandi Sanjay Ku- mar, the party leaders and cadre organized State-wide protests and burnt effigies of Congress president Sonia Gandhi. They also al- leged that Congress had always looked down upon the poor, Dalits, and Adivasis right from the beginning and was not able to digest an Adivasi woman becoming President of the country. “Chowdhury’s comments against Murmu are nothing but an insult to the people of the entire country,” the BJP leaders said. At the Exhibition Grounds here, BJP SC Morcha activists, led by their State president Hussain Naik burnt an effigy of Sonia Gandhi and raised slogans against the Congress party. In Karimnagar, the BJP workers under the auspices of district BJP president Gangagi Krishna Reddy staged a dharna and demanded that Chowdhury be sacked from the Congress for making humiliating comments against the President of India.

In Medak town too, the BJP workers burnt the effigies of Sonia Gandhi. The police took several BJP leaders, including district president Gaddam Srinivas into custody saying there was no per- mission for protests. Similar pro- tests were held in Wanaparthy, Hanamkonda, Secunderabad, Vi- karabad, Narayanpet, Sangareddy, Rangareddy urban district, and Hyderabad. Apart from burning the effigies of Sonia Gandhi, they demanded the immediate sacking of Chowdhury from the party and the Lok Sabha membership.
