Hyderabad: South Central Railway General Manager (Incharge) Arun Kumar Jain on Friday administered the ‘Sadbhavana Day Pledge’ to officers and staff at Rail Nilayam here. Sadbhavana Diwas is celebrated on August 20 every year to commemorate the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.

The day is observed to promote national integration, peaceful co-existence, and communal harmony among the Indian people of all religions. The idea behind observance of “Sadbhavana Diwas” is to eschew violence and to promote goodwill among the people, an SCR release said.

The pledge reads “I take this solemn pledge that I will work for the emotional oneness and harmony of all the people of India regardless of caste, region, religion, or language. I further pledge that I shall resolve all differences among us through dialogue and constitutional means without resorting to violence”.
