TS govt organizes closing ceremony of SBV in a grand manner

Hyderabad: The Telangana Government organized the concluding ceremony of Swatantra Bharatha Vajrotsavam (SBV), the Diamond Jubilee celebrations of India’s Independence in a grand manner at the sprawling L B Stadium here on Monday evening. Notably, the state government launched SBV celebrations on August 8 across the state by conducting a series of programs for about 15 days.

In his chief guest address, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao said the state government has conducted a series of programs during the last 15 days to enlighten the present generation about the Supreme sacrifices made by the freedom fighters led by Mahatma Gandhi to free the country from British rule.

Of these series of programs, the mass recitation of the national anthem was close to his heart, the Chief Minister said close to one crore people took part in the program which was held on August 16. Rao himself participated in the program at Abids in the city.

Rao also expressed happiness over the watching of the “ Gandhi” film by more than 22 lakh students across the state. “When looking at the previous 75 years of India’s Independence, Rao said the country has enormous resources but has not developed the country in the same manner. Need efforts in this direction,” he added.

“Our country achieved freedom after one-and-half- centuries of freedom struggle and several sacrifices, not (achieved) overnight. The country should not go into the hands of any divisive forces,” he added. Earlier, the Chief Minister unfurled the national flag. He also paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi’s statue. National and International artists performed various cultural programs.

A musical concert by nationally renowned singer and music director Shankar Mahadevan, classical dance performances by Padmashri Padmaja Reddy Troupe, and Qawwali by Warsi Brothers mesmerized the audience. Prominent people and sports persons from Telangana who have recently won medals in many international competitions and to her celebrities were honored on the occasion.

The Legislative Council Chairman, Assembly Speaker, State Ministers, Members of Parliament, MLAs, MLCs, Corporation Chairman, Municipal Corporation Mayors, Chairman, DCCB Temple Trust Board Chairman, MPPs, ZPTCs, and other public representatives and a large number of people attended the program.
