Woman cop assaulted in Chennai

The South India times Chennai: A woman constable with Railway Protection Force (RPF) was allegedly attacked with a knife by an unidentified man after she asked him to get off the ladies’ coach on Chennai suburban train on Tuesday night.

Railway Police have registered a case and have launched a hunt for the assailant. Police sources said that the incident happened around 8.45 pm. The RPF constable,

Asirva and another constable were on escort duty on the Beach- Chengelpattu electric train. On seeing a man boarding the lady’s coach, the RPF constable Asirva had asked him to deboard. Taking her by surprise, he slashed her with a knife and fled the place. The constable was moved to the government hospital and is being treated for her injuries. Police have also registered a case and are investigating.
