Chennai, Jan 9: TheTamil Nadu unit of the BJP today said the ruling DMK has brought shame to the House by disrupting the speech of Governor
RN Ravi during his customary New year Address in the State Assembly and said the Governor could not be compelled to read out a speech when the
context is far from truth. In a series of tweets, BJP State President K.Annamalai said “Today, DMK and their alliance partners acted like fringe elements on the first day of this assembly session. For petty political gains, the government brought shame to the house by disrupting the speech of the Honourable Governor, Thiru RN Ravi avargal”.The alliance partners of DMK displayed henchmen behaviour and were prepared to fight even before the Hon Governor commenced his speech. “The Hon Governor of the state cannot be compelled to read out a prepared speech when the context is far from the truth. While the state witnessed petrol bombings and a suicide bombing in recent past, he said DMK should be reminded that it’s not their party event to mention words like “Dravidian Model” in the Governor’s speech and still expect him to read it”, he added.
“Expecting Hon Gov to refer to the state as an abode of Peace & Tranquility is nothing but a joke. Hon Governor also included the efforts of the Centralgovt on the repatriation of our Fishermen, which @CMOTamilnadu chose to plagiarise as his effort; not surprising, though”, Annamalai said. He alleged that Assembly Speaker M.Appavu , did not maintain neutrality and was seen as an appeaser of his Master. “Intervening in Hon Governor’s address with a motion when the Hon Governor was still in the assembly is disrespectful and amateurish”, he said. In a related development, VCK Chief Thol Thirumavalavn, also a Lok Sabha member, announced an agitation in front of Raj Bhavan on January 13 demanding the resignation of the Governor. He said the DMK, in the past, glorified the role of the Governor if the Raj Bhavan remained a mute spectator and couldn’t digest our Honourable Governor Thiru RN Ravi performing his constitutional responsibility as one should!”. Meanwhile, TNCC President K.S.Alagiri said the Governor had disrespected the assembly norms and sought to know whether Prime Minister Narendra Modi will accept the President deviating from the prepared address of hisgovernment.
