YS Sharmila arrested, released on conditional bail

Hyderabad: AP CM YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s sister and YSRTP president YS Sharmila have been arrested over her alleged remarks against Mahabubabad MLA Shankar Nayak. Mahabubabad police have booked a case against Sharmila and arrested her in the case.Police took Sharmila into custody in a tense atmosphere where her followers and party leaders were raising slogans against the BRS party. Sharmila was on a Padayatra before her arrest. Her Padayatra came to a halt with her arrest. Cops are transporting Sharmila to Hyderabad.
Going into the details, Sharmila addressed a public meeting on Saturday in Mahabubabad in which she leveled serious allegations of corruption, land grabbing, settlements, and illegal activities. Hurt by her comments against MLA Banothu Shankar Nayak, the party leader Lunavath Ashok Kumar had complained to the police against Sharmila.
Cops have booked SC, ST atrocity case against Sharmila and arrested her on Sunday. Later addressing a press conference, she slammed the BRS’s government headed by K Chandrasekhar Rao.
She alleged that the government is misusing police to disrupt her padayatra as he is scared that his days are numbered for not fulfilling promises made to people. “He rode to power on false promises and now the people are coming forward to complain over the injustices meted out to them. Precisely, I am doing the same raising the complaints that are being brought before me by the people,” he said.
According to her, the Mahabubabad MLA Naik has illegally occupied 2,500 acres of land and despite complaints from the people who lost their lands to this political thug; he is talking nonsense against me and other leaders for questioning. “Where is the justice? This government cannot provide justice to gullible to people. And I am not scared of false cases foisted on me. It was the MLA who called me a yunak (kojja-transgender) first.How dare he address a woman like me with such filthy language?” she asked and said, “I am only giving back to him in the same language that he deserves.”
She did not mince words when she claimed even in the past she got directives from the court for such wrong actions by the government (rendu sarlu gathamlo prabhuthwaniki court mottikayalu vesindi andariki telisindhe, meaning in her case she got twice moved the court and it has pulled up the government for harassing her). She alleged that KCR has become a dictator like Taliban and turned Telangana state into another Afghanistan. He care a damn to democratic norms. She further made it loud and clear that she will not rest till she sends KCR packing in the next elections. “People are vexed with his rule and are unwilling to vote him back to power,” she claimed.
