The village Barwa situated at the end of Bhiwani sub-division Siwani touches the Hisar district. One of the oldest villages in Haryana, Barwa was earlier known as Bar-Barwa. Barwa village is a village of much historical evidence. It has been compared to the luxurious village of Havelis. The village excelled in the fields of architecture, sculpture, literature, painting, business, religion, and education since ancient times. One such religious heritage Jhang-Ashram is included in the village of Barwa. Whose splendor is immense and whose identity is real. Jhang Ashram Barwa has located about 27 km from Hisar city. It houses the tomb of Mahant Puri as well as temples of Hindu deities. People from many cities come to this historical place and they want to know the ashram and they want to follow it in their life.
History-Sant Purush Loh Langar Ji Maharaj used to do penance in the forest area of Barwa about five hundred years ago in ancient times. Meanwhile, around 1620 AD, the Mughal emperor (Salim) Jahangir passed through this route to go to Kangra (Kangra fort located on the hills of North East Punjab). During this, his army had made a halt in this area to rest. That’s when he met Saint Purush Loh Langar Ji Maharaj. Troubled by the problem of drinking water, Emperor Jahangir’s army excavated a pond here, which is today famous as Jahangir Talab.
Chronology- Years after the death of Loha Langar ji, Mahant Bishambar Giri ji took charge of this ashram, and as long as he was alive, he did penance and finally took Jivantsamadhi. After him, Mahant Charanpuri Maharaj, carrying forward the tradition of the ashram, continued the religious rituals here and attained the vibrant Samadhi. After him, Saint Purush Hanuman Giri Ji and Mahant Sevagiri Ji Maharaj remained on the throne of the ashram. At present, Mahant Shri Daya Giri Ji Maharaj is maintaining our ancient saint tradition for the last forty years and is engaged in auspicious wishes for the region.
Beliefs about Jhang Ashram of Barwa: It is the belief of the people of the village and surrounding areas that Jhang Ashram is a spiritual miracle for the area. People believe that it is the result of the glory and divine power of the sages of the ashram that the area around Barwa has to suffer losses due to hailstorms and locusts. But due to the initial influence of the ashram, this did not happen in the area of Barwa village even in the last five years. Not only this, there is a legend among the elders here that Maharaj Charan Puri ji of the ashram was rich in illusory powers.
He claimed that there would never be a paisa loss due to hailstorms and locusts in village Barwa. He was an elusive saint and was an expert in changing his clothes. He used to roam around in the night in the form of a lion. This is the reason why entry into the ashram was prohibited after ten o’clock in the night during his stay. Modern science may not agree with these facts, yet this ashram is a symbol of unwavering devotion and faith for the people of the village and the surrounding areas. People feel peace when they come here.
Religious rituals – By the way, Kirtan-Bhajan and Yagya are held every day in Jhang Ashram of Barwa. But on the death anniversary of Mahant Vishambar Giri, the most revered founder of the Ashram, a national Sant-Samagam is organized by the congregation of the Bhandara Ashram. In which thousands of saints and devotees reach for the darshan of the ashram. During this, Mahayagyas are performed for peace in the area and wishes are made for peace.
How the expenses of the ashram are run – The burden of daily expenses incurred in the ashram is borne by the amount received in the form of donation. Whose annual account is kept? Not only this, the ashram has hundreds of acres of land, whose income is used for the expenses of the religious programs held here.
Along with this, Zhang Mandali cooperates in every way in the work of the ashram. Jhang Ashram is located at Barwa, about 27 km from Hisar city. In this, along with the mausoleum of Mahant Puri, there are temples of Hindu deities. Enlightened citizens of the village Nahar Singh Tanwar, Sanjay Swami, and Lal Singh Lalu told that people from many cities come to this historical place and they want to know the ashram and they want to follow in their life. There are many routes to reach here. By Air- The nearest airport from Delhi in Hisar. There are regular flights to Delhi and Chandigarh. Further, it can be reached by road. By Train- The nearest railway station from Hisar is Naloi Barwa and Siwani. There are two railway stations about 4 km from the ashram. By Road- Barwa Jhang is connected by road with Hisar-Rajgarh National Highway. The ashram is located on the Naloi road, about 2 km from the bus stand of Barwa village.
