A sharp rise in commercial LPG prices has put the hospitality sector under pressure, with hotel and restaurant owners warning of serious financial strain and possible impact on customers.

In Hyderabad, the cost of a commercial LPG cylinder has jumped significantly, leaving businesses struggling to manage rising operational expenses. Industry representatives say the increase comes at a time when the sector is already dealing with higher input costs and supply challenges.

Leaders from the Telangana hotel association have urged both the state and central governments to step in and provide relief. They pointed out that the industry had recently faced disruptions due to supply shortages linked to global tensions, which had already affected operations.

According to association president Saddi Venkat Reddy, many establishments were forced to shut temporarily during previous price spikes. He warned that the latest increase could lead to a noticeable rise in food prices, potentially affecting customer demand.

Restaurant owners echoed similar concerns, saying that the combined rise in LPG, cooking oil and other essential ingredients has made it difficult to sustain current pricing. Some businesses have already started considering small price hikes to offset losses.

M Sudhakar, who runs a restaurant in Madhapur, said the situation has become increasingly challenging. He explained that despite absorbing earlier cost increases, the latest hike leaves little option but to raise menu prices slightly to keep the business running.

Industry stakeholders believe that without timely intervention, the hospitality sector may face further setbacks, with both businesses and consumers feeling the impact of rising costs.
