A surprising twist has emerged in Tamil Nadu politics as the latest NDTV Axis My India exit poll indicates a major breakthrough for actor turned politician Vijay and his newly formed TVK party. The survey suggests that the party could win between 98 and 120 seats in the 234 member Assembly, positioning it as a decisive force in the state.
While most exit polls have predicted a return to power for the ruling DMK alliance, the NDTV survey paints a far more competitive picture. According to its estimates, the DMK alliance may secure around 92 to 110 seats, while the AIADMK alliance is projected to win between 22 and 32 seats. If these numbers hold, the balance of power could shift significantly.
This election marks the first major political test for Vijay’s Tamil Vetri Kazhagam, and the projections suggest that the party could emerge as a kingmaker or even a dominant player. Even at the lower end of the estimate, the party’s performance signals a disruption in a political landscape long dominated by the DMK and AIADMK.
Other survey agencies, however, have offered varying predictions. Some indicate a comfortable majority for the DMK alliance, while others see a more fragmented outcome with multiple players sharing influence. A few forecasts even suggest a stronger showing for the AIADMK alliance, highlighting the uncertainty surrounding the final verdict.
With counting scheduled for Monday, political observers and voters alike are waiting to see whether the NDTV exit poll will translate into actual results or if the traditional power structures will hold their ground.
