Doha: Syria handed over 50 militants of the Islamic State (IS, a terrorist organization outlawed in Russia) with Iraqi citizenship to Baghdad through the Rabia border crossing on Saturday, the Iraqi security forces said. “The terrorists have been transferred through the Rabia border crossing on the border with Syria. The Federal Intelligence and Investigation Agency of the Interior Ministry has received them to complete the necessary procedures against them,” a statement read. On Friday, 620 people, mostly women, and children, from around 150 families of IS members arrived in northern Iraq’s Nineveh governorate from Syria’s al-Hawl refugee camp, according to the Shafaq news agency. The Iraqi government began relocating family members of its nationals suspected of links to IS from the camp in the Syrian desert in 2021.
