PM admits ED was used against Opposition parties : CM Stalin

Date:

Chennai: Prime Minister Narendra Modi through his Enforcement Directorate (ED) has united Opposition remarks has for the first time admitted that ED was used to exact revenge against the Opposition parties, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK President M K Stalin said on Tuesday.
“The ED has united Opposition” remarks was a confession statement by the Prime Minister on for what purpose the ED was beng used”, Stalin said, in his third part of video Question and Answer session as part of his ‘Ungalil Oruvan’ (One among You) programme. He said the Prime Minister has admitted to ‘using’ the ED to exact political revenge on opposition parties for the first time in the Parliament.
“It is a confession statement from the PM on what the ED is used for. This is not good for the country or autonomous institutions and democracy”, he added. Stalin said he had learnt (from the PMs speech) how to speak for hours without answering any question raised by the opposition and said, “Many allegations were levelled against the PM and his government. The Prime Minister did not answer any of them.
People did not say that they shield the PM. Only he has been claiming so.”
Dubbing the PM’s speech in parliament was loaded with jargon, Stalin said “He (the PM) did not answer to the BBC documentary or Adani issue. He did not list out the promises he made to the people.
DMK MPs raised several issues like Sethu Samudram project, NEET, state rights, Governor’s intervention, failure to give assent to online rummy ban legislation. But the PM did not have anything to say to Tamil Nadu, the Chief Minister added.
Rebutting the PM’s another jibe on DMK’s alliance with Congress, which had dismissed the DMK government in the past, the Chief Minister said “Can a person who has aligned with the AIADMK, which had toppled the BJP regime, ask this question.” On the Centre avoiding a Joint Parliamentary Committee probe into the Adani scam, he said “The allegations against Adani group are directly linked to the BJP Government at the Centre.” “Even the First Bench of the Supreme Court headed by the Chief Justice of India is seriously hearing the case. Hence. It must be discussed in the Parliament and a JPC must be ordered”, Stlain, said, adding, “Brother Rahul Gandhi has raised valid questions.
It is shocking that the PM has not uttered a word about it.” On the remarks made by Rahul Gandhi and Congress President Mallikharjuna Kharge being expunged from Parliament records, Stlain said it is an act that went against Parliament democratic traditions. “By expunging it from Parliament, it cannot be erased from the people’s minds”, he added.
