Explosion near Nitish Kumar visit in Bihar sparks panic
Explosion near Nitish Kumar Samriddhi Yatra in Bihar leaves one dead and several injured triggering panic as authorities investigate suspected illegal fireworks activity close to Siwan during chief minister visit

A powerful explosion rocked a village on the outskirts of Siwan on Thursday, triggering panic just hours after Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar arrived in the district as part of his ongoing Samriddhi Yatra.
The blast occurred in Badaram village under the Hussain Ganj police station limits, around six to seven kilometres away from the venue of the chief minister’s programme. One person was killed in the incident, identified as Murtuza Ansari, according to preliminary police information.
Residents said the explosion was so loud that it could be heard across nearby areas, sending people rushing out of their homes in fear. Several houses reportedly suffered structural damage, with walls and rooftops bearing the impact of the blast.
Initial investigation suggests the explosion may have occurred during the illegal manufacture of firecrackers. Officials believe unsafe handling of explosive materials could have triggered the incident, though a detailed probe is still underway.
Multiple people were injured in the blast and rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment. Some of the injured are said to be in critical condition, raising concerns that the death toll could rise. Authorities have not yet issued an official statement on the final number of casualties.
Emergency teams reached the spot soon after the incident and began rescue and relief operations. Security agencies are closely monitoring the situation given the proximity of the blast to the chief minister’s visit.
Meanwhile, Nitish Kumar continued his scheduled engagements in Siwan, reviewing development projects and inaugurating new facilities alongside senior ministers and top officials as part of the sixth day of his statewide tour.
