UIDAI Introduces New Aadhaar App for Easy Mobile Number Updates
UIDAI has launched a new Aadhaar app allowing users to update mobile numbers from home using OTP and face verification within minutes at low cost without visiting enrollment centers nationwide

Updating a mobile number linked to Aadhaar no longer requires standing in long queues or filling out physical forms. UIDAI has introduced a new Aadhaar app that allows users to change or update their registered mobile number directly from their smartphone in just a few minutes.
The new app is designed to make digital identity services faster and more accessible. People who have changed their phone number, stopped using an old SIM, or delayed updates due to time constraints can now complete the process from home. The feature is especially useful for users who depend on Aadhaar linked services and need uninterrupted access.
Within the app, users will find a dedicated option to update their mobile number. The process relies on OTP verification and face authentication, removing the need to visit an Aadhaar center. This ensures both convenience and security while confirming the user’s identity digitally.
To begin, users need to download the latest Aadhaar app and log in using Aadhaar based authentication. Once logged in, the mobile number update option can be accessed from the services section. The app displays the currently registered number and allows users to enter the new one they wish to link.
After entering the new number, an OTP is sent for verification. Once the OTP is confirmed, the app requests face authentication to complete biometric verification. A processing fee of Rs 75 is charged for the service. UIDAI states that the updated mobile number will reflect in Aadhaar records within a maximum of fifteen days.
With this update, UIDAI aims to simplify Aadhaar related services and reduce dependency on physical centers. The new Aadhaar app marks a significant step toward faster digital governance, offering users a smoother and more practical way to manage their personal information.
