Centre Clears Funds to Restart Double Bedroom Housing Projects in Telangana

Long stalled housing projects in Telangana are set for revival as the Centre approves pending funds, offering fresh hope to thousands of families waiting for double bedroom homes

  • Centre approves pending housing funds.
  • Double bedroom house construction to resume.
  • Thousands of beneficiaries to get homes soon.

After months of uncertainty, there is welcome news for families in Telangana who have been waiting for their own homes. The Central government has given its approval to release long pending funds for double bedroom housing projects, paving the way for construction to restart across the state.

Officials from Telangana recently held discussions in New Delhi with Union urban housing authorities, seeking clearance of outstanding dues. Following these talks, the Centre agreed to release funds under the PM Awas Yojana, bringing much needed relief to stalled projects.

According to official estimates, around 1.45 lakh double bedroom houses were taken up across Telangana. Of these, nearly 60,000 homes have already been handed over to beneficiaries, while another 30,000 are ready for distribution. Construction on the remaining houses had slowed down due to fund shortages.

The Centre is expected to release about 564 crore rupees soon. These funds will be used to complete unfinished houses and ensure quicker delivery to eligible families who do not own a house or land.

Earlier delays were largely due to differences in procedural rules. While houses were completed first and beneficiaries identified later, Central guidelines require beneficiary details to be uploaded on the official portal in advance. With the Telangana government now updating the required data, the funding bottleneck has been cleared.

Along with support for double bedroom houses, Central assistance for Indiramma housing is also continuing. Officials believe this combined funding will significantly speed up housing construction and help more families move into permanent homes in the coming months.
