India has taken a decisive step onto the global artificial intelligence stage with the launch of the AI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi. The five day international event began on February 16 at Bharat Mandapam and will continue until February 20, drawing global attention to India’s growing role in AI governance and innovation.
The summit brings together leading technology executives, policymakers, researchers and government representatives from over 45 countries. Among the high profile participants are Google CEO Sundar Pichai, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, DeepMind chief Demis Hassabis, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei and Microsoft President Brad Smith. Several global political leaders are also attending the discussions.
Designed as India’s first world level AI forum, the summit focuses on balancing innovation with responsibility. Sessions will explore AI safety, data privacy, policy frameworks, ethical use of technology and the long term impact of artificial intelligence on jobs and economies. More than 700 sessions, panels and round table meetings are scheduled across five days.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to formally address the summit on February 19, highlighting India’s vision for inclusive and future ready AI development. A CEO round table with global industry leaders and investors will also take place on the same day to discuss collaboration and shared AI infrastructure.
The event includes an India AI Expo showcasing innovations, startup solutions and real world AI applications across sectors such as healthcare, agriculture, education and energy. Research symposiums and industry focused sessions are scheduled to connect policymakers with innovators.
