The Enforcement Directorate on Friday carried out searches at multiple locations connected to Reliance Power, a company linked to industrialist Anil Ambani. The coordinated raids were conducted in Mumbai and several other cities as part of an investigation into alleged financial irregularities.
Officials said the searches are related to suspected violations under the Foreign Exchange Management Act. Investigators believe that certain financial transactions associated with Reliance Power and its related entities may have involved irregularities, prompting the enforcement agency to step in.
Teams of the Enforcement Directorate reportedly visited offices and residences connected to individuals closely associated with Anil Ambani as well as directors linked to the company. Authorities are examining financial records and other documents as part of the ongoing probe.
Sources indicate that several important documents have been seized during the searches. The agency is expected to review these records to determine whether there were violations of financial regulations or improper movement of funds.
The investigation has drawn significant attention because Reliance Power is part of the Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group, commonly known as the Reliance ADAG group. Officials said the raids are still underway and further details will be known after the completion of the search operations.
Anil Ambani has previously appeared before enforcement agencies in connection with financial matters, including issues that surfaced in international financial document leaks. However, authorities have not yet released an official statement regarding the latest operation.
The Enforcement Directorate is expected to issue a formal clarification after completing the ongoing searches and reviewing the material collected during the raids.
