LPG Price Hike Across India As Global Iran War Impacts Gas Supply

LPG price hike announced across India as global tensions from Iran war disrupt supply routes forcing oil companies to increase domestic and commercial gas cylinder prices from today.

  • LPG price hike raises domestic cylinder rates.
  • Commercial LPG cylinder price increased nationwide.
  • Iran war impact affects LPG supply.

Consumers across India woke up to a fresh price shock as LPG prices increased from today following global disruptions in energy supply. Oil marketing companies announced a revision in both domestic and commercial gas cylinder rates, citing international developments affecting fuel availability.

The increase comes amid rising geopolitical tensions linked to the ongoing conflict involving Iran, the United States and Israel. Supply routes passing through the Strait of Hormuz have reportedly been affected, creating uncertainty in global LPG distribution and pushing prices upward.

According to the latest revision the price of a 14.2 kilogram domestic LPG cylinder has been increased by 60 rupees across the country. The hike will directly impact household cooking gas expenses for millions of families.

Commercial LPG cylinders have also become more expensive. The price of a 19 kilogram commercial LPG cylinder has been increased by 115 rupees. This rise is expected to affect hotels restaurants and several small businesses that rely heavily on LPG for daily operations.

In the national capital Delhi the price of a domestic LPG cylinder has increased from 853 rupees to 913 rupees. In Mumbai the new price stands at 852.50 rupees while in Chennai it has risen to 928.50 rupees. Kolkata also witnessed a similar rise with the price touching around 930 rupees.

Commercial cylinder prices have also seen a significant jump. In Delhi the rate has increased from 1768.50 rupees to 1883 rupees. In Mumbai the price moved up from 1720.50 rupees to 1835 rupees while in Chennai it climbed from 1929 rupees to 2043.50 rupees.

Officials noted that LPG prices had remained unchanged since April last year but the ongoing global conflict and uncertainty in energy supply chains have forced oil companies to revise rates. Analysts warn that continued geopolitical tensions could further influence fuel prices in the coming months.

The price hike is likely to increase the cost burden on households as well as businesses across the country while experts continue to closely monitor global energy markets and supply conditions.
