India produced a stunning batting performance in the IND vs NZ T20 World Cup 2026 final, registering the highest total ever recorded in a T20 World Cup final. Playing at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, India scored a massive 255 runs for five wickets in the allotted twenty overs.

The historic total shattered previous records in the tournament’s final matches. Earlier the highest score in a T20 World Cup final was 176 runs which India had posted against South Africa in the 2024 final. This time the Indian team went far beyond that mark by adding seventy nine more runs.

Young Indian batters dominated the New Zealand bowling attack from the very beginning. Abhishek Sharma set the tone with a blazing knock and reached his half century in just eighteen balls. He scored 52 runs from only 21 deliveries during the powerplay and put the opposition bowlers under pressure.

Sanju Samson continued the momentum with an impressive innings. He was in excellent form and registered his third consecutive half century in the tournament. Samson scored 89 runs and narrowly missed a century but his aggressive batting played a major role in building the huge total.

Ishan Kishan also contributed strongly in the middle overs by scoring a quick 54 runs. His innings ensured that the run rate remained high and the New Zealand bowlers had no opportunity to slow down the scoring.

Towards the end of the innings Shivam Dube provided a powerful finish. In the final over he attacked James Neesham and collected 24 runs including several boundaries and sixes which pushed the total beyond the 250 mark.

Although Neesham tried to bring New Zealand back into the game by taking three wickets in one over the damage had already been done. India had already built a massive score which now puts huge pressure on the New Zealand batting lineup.

With 256 runs required to win the T20 World Cup final New Zealand faces a challenging chase. Achieving such a huge target in a high pressure final will require an extraordinary performance from their batters.
