Ahead of its release next month, Ram Charan’s upcoming film Peddi has received legal protection from the Madras High Court against online piracy. The court issued important interim orders directing individuals and websites not to illegally upload, copy, stream, or distribute the movie through internet platforms.
The order came after the film’s production company approached the court seeking protection for its copyright content. A vacation bench of the Madras High Court heard the petition and observed that unauthorized online leaks could cause heavy financial losses to the makers of the film. Considering the potential impact, the court granted an anti piracy injunction to safeguard the movie before its theatrical release.
The court made it clear that any illegal circulation of the film through websites or digital platforms would violate copyright rules. The order aims to prevent piracy related activities that often affect major movie releases within hours of their release in theatres.
Legal experts explain that an anti piracy injunction is a court backed protection mechanism used by filmmakers and copyright holders to stop unauthorized copying or streaming of films and web series. These orders also help authorities block piracy websites involved in illegally sharing copyrighted content online.
The court also referred to dynamic injunction measures, which allow authorities to automatically block newly created links or mirror websites if the same pirated content reappears under different URLs. Film industry sources believe such measures are becoming increasingly important as online piracy continues to threaten movie revenues and digital rights.
