Xiaomi has officially introduced its new flagship smartphone lineup in India with the launch of the Xiaomi 17 series. The series includes two premium models, Xiaomi 17 and Xiaomi 17 Ultra, both designed to target users looking for powerful performance and advanced camera technology. Among the two devices, the Ultra model stands out as the most advanced offering, especially for photography enthusiasts.

The Xiaomi 17 Ultra arrives with an impressive 200 megapixel telephoto camera, making it one of the most powerful smartphone cameras available in the market today. Xiaomi has also added an attractive launch offer to boost early sales. Customers purchasing the Ultra model during the early launch period will receive the Xiaomi Professional Photography Kit Pro at no additional cost. The kit, valued at around Rs 19999, is designed to enhance the mobile photography experience.

Sales of the Xiaomi 17 Ultra will begin in India on March 18 through Amazon and Xiaomi India’s official online store. The base model with 16GB RAM and 512GB internal storage is priced at Rs 139999. Buyers using SBI credit cards can also avail bank discounts of up to Rs 10000. The early bird promotion runs from March 13 to March 17, giving customers the opportunity to claim the free photography kit before regular sales begin. The device will be available in black and white color options.

Photography is clearly the main highlight of the Xiaomi 17 Ultra. The smartphone features a Leica tuned camera system that includes multiple advanced sensors. Its primary camera uses a 50 megapixel sensor with optical image stabilization and a one inch Light Fusion sensor. The device also includes the powerful 200 megapixel telephoto camera with support for up to 120 times digital zoom. Completing the rear setup is a 50 megapixel ultra wide camera designed to capture wide landscape shots.

For selfies and video calls, the phone carries a 50 megapixel front camera. The rear camera system can record videos in 8K resolution at 30 frames per second, providing professional grade video capabilities for content creators and photography enthusiasts.

Under the hood, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra runs on a powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset built on advanced 3 nanometer technology. The processor includes high performance cores delivering clock speeds up to 4.6 GHz along with efficiency cores designed to manage power consumption. The device is paired with 16GB LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB UFS 4.1 storage, ensuring smooth multitasking and fast data access.

The smartphone features a large 6.9 inch OLED display with Xiaomi HyperRGB technology and a resolution of 1200 by 2608 pixels. The screen supports a 120Hz refresh rate, high brightness levels up to 3500 nits and advanced HDR capabilities including Dolby Vision. The display is also designed to work smoothly even when the user’s fingers are slightly wet.

Powering the device is a 6000mAh battery that supports 90W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. Xiaomi claims the battery can deliver extended usage while the fast charging technology ensures the device can quickly return to full power when needed.

Alongside the Ultra model, Xiaomi has also introduced the standard Xiaomi 17 smartphone. This model starts at Rs 89999 for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage variant, while the 12GB and 512GB version is priced at Rs 99999. The device will be available starting March 13 through Xiaomi’s website, Amazon and selected retail stores. Customers purchasing during the early bird period can upgrade to the higher storage model at the price of the base variant.

The Xiaomi 17 features a slightly smaller 6.3 inch CrystalRes OLED display with a resolution of 2656 by 1220 pixels and a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. Like the Ultra model, it also supports advanced color technology and high brightness for clear viewing even under bright sunlight.

Both smartphones run on Android 16 based HyperOS 3 and include Xiaomi’s new HyperAI suite. The software introduces several artificial intelligence features such as AI writing assistance, speech recognition tools, AI search functions and dynamic wallpapers.

With powerful hardware, advanced camera capabilities and attractive launch offers, Xiaomi is clearly aiming to attract photography lovers and premium smartphone buyers with its latest Xiaomi 17 series. The addition of a professional photography kit with the Ultra model further highlights the company’s push toward serious mobile photography.
